MANILA HEMP

Manila Hemp was born in 2001 in the province of Teramo. The project is shared by 5 musicians who initially met with the intention of proposing music linked to grunge culture. After four years spent playing published songs, in 2005 the project naturally evolved into the composition of unpublished songs, reworking, updating and contextualizing the genre of adoption. The musical style of Manila Hemp is well represented by the name of the band itself, a rough textile fiber obtained from hemp, a rough and scratchy style but the result of careful weaving. The poetics of Manila Hemp is naturalness and spontaneity, revaluation of humanity, of the possibility of making mistakes, of communicating without false needs or moralisms. In contrast to the baseness of appearance and the hypocrisy of today's society that unfairly creates marginalized people with the labels given by the market, music is liberation and spontaneous dialogue.
